Performance Horse Regestry
Information Now On-Line
The
Performance Horse Registry (PHR), a large and ever-developing database
which promotes sport horse breeding, performance and pedigree has been
added to the AHSA web site (www.ahsa.org).
Available are downloads that will assist anyone interested in
registering their horses with the database-regardless of breed.
This
is a purposeful and powerful tool that is destined to become as honored
and revered as the stud books used over time by the various breed
registries both here and abroad, with the ultimate goal of developing
the sport horse industry in the United States.
The database will contribute to the availability of research and
accessibility to anyone interested in educating themselves or making
informed and researched purchasing decisions.
Also,
this will be of great value to anyone interested in following specific
bloodlines and determining the best match when breeding their own sport
horses. According to Julie
Moses, Assistant Director of Information Resources, “this is an
exciting project as it will assist the U.S. and our breeders in
developing truly world-class competitors.”
In
addition, the application for the Silver Stirrup Award is just a mouse
click away. The Silver
Stirrups are an awards program that gives recognition to the top
performing PHR horses competing at the local, regional and national
levels in hunter, jumper, driving and endurance.
This year the Silver Stirrups awards will be presented, for the
first time at a banquet being held in conjunction with the Horse of the
Year Awards presented by the AHSA at the Annual Meeting in Colorado
Springs, CO, on Saturday, January 13.
Currently,
there are forms available for dressage riders and eventers that will
allow them to submit their results for consideration in the Silver
Stirrup Awards (as their scores are maintained by the USDF and USCTA
respectively).
For
the first time ever, the awards standings are on-line throughout the
competition year. These
continually updated totals will allow you to monitor your standings
amongst the top competitors enrolled in the registry.
Of
course, there is more to the site.
There is also a handy list of on-line links that are of great
use. Anyone wanting to get
more information about a specific breed of horse has to only
double-click and kick back.
“We’ve
had a lot of excitement about the PHR.
So many people are happy to know that their horses can now be
fully registered with the PHR. Formerly
they were restricted due to the lack of Thoroughbred blood in their
pedigree,” said Moses. “Now
Warmblood owners have a chance to boast about their breeding practices,
as well.” This
inclusiveness is certainly a benefit and driving point behind the
effort.
For
anyone interested in learning more about the PHR or its awards program,
please contact Cavan Allen (PHR Representative) for forms and general
information or Angela Pritchard (PHR Registrar) for registration-related
questions or information.
