2009 Performance Horse Registry’s Silver Stirrup Champions Announced
The final shows have been posted and the 2009 Performance Horse Registry’s (PHR) Silver Stirrup Award winners have been announced. One of the hunter winners include Krishna Buyalos’ beautiful two-year-old filly, Outstanding. This bay filly is by Popeye K and out of Delilah. She was bred in California by Leslie Nelson. She is the winner of the Hunter Breeding Award. The Anglo-Trakehner gelding Unbelievable (Zarr x Rhapsody II) took home the award for the best Green Working Hunter.
The jumper category seems to be a carbon copy of last season. John and Barbara Bartko’s uber-talented grand prix winner Tarco Van Ter Moude took home top honors again in the High-Point Jumper category. This gelded son by Darco and out of the mare Pleiade de Revel won in excess of $200,000 in the jumper ring for 2009. Salamander Farm’s La Martinee (Landclassic x Landelfe) was the Amateur Owner Jumper of the Year for the third consecutive year.

Reduced Registration and Transfer Fees Passed by the National Show Horse Registry Board of Directors
Effective immediately and until December 31, 2009, registration fees for National Show Horses will be $250 for horses three months and older whose sire is National Show Horse Registry (NSHR) Lifetime Nominated and $500 for horses three months and older whose sire is not NSHR Lifetime Nominated.
Effective immediately and until December 31, 2009, the transfer fee of a National Show Horse will be no more than $100 regardless of the number of interim owners as long as the current owner is a current NSHR member.

Sport Horse Nationals Payback Program Starts Third Year with a New Way to Win Cash
The Sport Horse Nationals (SHN) Payback Program celebrated its second year anniversary in November, having raised a grand total of over $119,000 for exhibitors in these first two years. Funds were raised through the sales of donated stallion breeding services sold to the public at half-price. All money raised goes into payouts as no revenues are utilized for administration.
Included in the offered services are world-class Warmbloods, Thoroughbreds, Arabians, Anglo-Arabians, Saddlebreds, Welsh, Friesians, Hackneys and others. Many are National or World Champions, or have sired champions. Total number of stallions enrolled for 2010 currently exceeds 300 so far.

20th Annual Thoroughbred Charities of America Stallion Season Auction Grosses $1.7 Million
The 20th Annual Thoroughbred Charities of America (TCA) Stallion Season Auction raised a gross amount of $1.7 million compared to $1.2 million in 2008. The auction began with a three-day telephone auction and concluded with a live auction at the Keeneland Entertainment Center.

Iron Spring Farm's Rampal Passes On
Iron Spring Farm's important KWPN stallion Rampal passed away on November 11, 2009, due to the infirmities of old age. The 26-year-old stallion was known not only for his incredible competition record, which included being short listed for the United States Equestrian Team, but also for his contributions to the sport horse world as a sire. His offspring have been competitive through the international levels of both show jumping and dressage. His son, Ovation ISF, won at such shows as CSIO Rome with World Cup Finals winner Marcus Fuchs in the saddle.

National Reining Horse Association/Markel Insurance Sales Results
The National Reining Horse Association (NRHA) and Markel Insurance once again hosted three sales during the 2009 NRHA Futurity & Adequan® North American Affiliate Championship Show in Oklahoma City. The top seller from all three sales was Mister Montana Nic (Reminic x Mollie Montana, by Montana Doc), an 11-year-old stallion consigned by Craig Schmersal for Montana Nic Syndicate. Ericka Alcorn of Gardner, KS, bought the NRHA money earner of $121,000 in the NRHA/Markel Insurance Marketplace Sale for $125,000. The Marketplace Sale grossed $892,200 on 134 horses that sold for an average of $6,658. Five horses in the sale brought $20,000 or more.

The new USEF Competition year began on December 1, 2009. You can still renew your membership. It is so easy when you log into your MY USEF Account and click on "2010 USEF Membership Application" under 2010 Competition Year. For your convenience and the best membership deal, you can opt for a three-year membership for $150.
The annual USEF Competing Equestrian membership costs only $55. As a competing member, you are eligible to participate at all USEF Licensed Competitions, receive "equestrian" magazine at no additional charge, a million-dollar personal excess liability policy for horse-related accidents that cause bodily injury or property damage to third parties, and the added benefits of USEF MemberPerks—a members-only discount program with unbeatable deals from companies like John Deere, Hertz, Sherwin Williams, USRider, FarmVet, LifeLock, Moxie and others.
