USEF Announces Top Five Finalists in the Farnam®/Platform™ USEF Horse of the Year; Voting Now Available Online
The tally has just begun, and your votes will be an integral part of deciding which of the nation’s leading equines will be named the Farnam®/Platform™ USEF Horse of the Year. Merely weeks away from the 2008 USEF Annual Meeting, all heads are turning to five finalists in anticipation of which horse will be adorned with the title of Horse of the Year—one of the most prestigious awards the USEF bestows. This year’s winner will join dressage superstar Brentina (2005 winner) and jumping superstar Authentic (2006 winner).
All of the finalists for Horse of the Year will be recognized during the Annual Horse of the Year gala at the USEF Annual Meeting on Saturday, January 12, with the Farnam®/Platform™ USEF Horse of the Year Award topping off the evening. The Annual Meeting will be held January 9-13 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown in Louisville, KY. For more information about the Annual Meeting, visit www.usef.org/convention/2008.

Several Saddlebred Stallion Service Auctions On the Horizon
Several Saddlebred stallion service auctions will kick off the new year. Listed by date of auction, they include the Wisconsin Futurity Limited Breeders’ Stallion Service Auction on January 12; the All American Cup Stallion Service Auction on January 18-19; the Bluegrass Futurity Limited Breeders’ Stake Stallion Service Auction on January 20; the Ohio Limited Breeders’ Stake Stallion Service Auction on February 2; and the American Saddle Horse Breeders Futurity of West Virginia Stallion Service Auction on February 9.

Little Bit Farm’s Rashka Highest Scoring Stallion in U.S. Testing History
Little Bit Farm is very proud to report that at the 2007 Sporthorse Stallion Performance Test at Paxton Farm, our three-year-old ISR/Oldenburg stallion Rashka (Raymeister x Tashka/Opus) not only won the 30-Day Short Test, but earned the highest score in the history of U.S. stallion testing, and possibly even in all European testing, as well, with a score of 164.86.

KEEP Stallion Season Auction a Major Success
The Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP) announced the results of its December 7 stallion season auction. The grand total for the fundraising effort when all seasons are totaled is estimated to be approximately $4,000,000.
The live and silent auctions combined totaled approximately $3.9 million. When KEEP finalizes all of the private seasons, the total will top $4 million.

Pik L and Son Pikk Primero Win at the 124th National Horse Show
Horses Unlimited’s flagship stallion Pik L continued his winning ways at the 124th National Horse Show in Wellington, FL, with two wins at Intermediaire II. The handsome bay by Pik Bube II has won Prix St. Georges and Intermediaire I classes at the most prestigious shows in the country and now continues into the large tour classes. His son Pikk Primero also competed and won in the young horse division.

Grande Gil Becomes First Saddlebred Triple Crown Winner Since 2004 With Grande Gil’s win at the American Royal in November, the five-year-old gelding has claimed the first American Saddlebred Triple Crown since 2004, sweeping the three-gaited open championships at Lexington Junior League, Kentucky State Fair and American Royal—the three shows which comprise the Saddlebred Triple Crown.

Dream Street Stallion, Starlight, Wins United States Dressage Federation Sport Horse Breeding Horse of the Year
Dream Street Stallion, Starlight, swept the top honors for a breeding stallion at the United States Dressage Federation’s (USDF) annual awards banquet hosted in Orlando, FL. Starlight was awarded the USDF All-Breeds Dressage Sport Horse Breeding Horse Of The Year. The seven-year-old black Oldenburg stallion is owned and shown by Rick Silvia of Dream Street Stallions. Silvia was also informed that Starlight’s score was the highest median score ever recorded. Silvia was awarded both a perpetual trophy and a beautiful bronze statue for the win. Both prizes will be kept on display in the USDF Hall of Fame in Kentucky, along with a photo of Starlight in honor of his accomplishments.
